Questions people ask
How much is a surf lesson?
₱1,200 for a two-hour lesson, board included. On good-wave days you can take the boat to a spot further out, which is ₱300 more.
Do I need any experience?
No. Plenty of our students have never stood on a board. Your coach picks a spot with small waves and works with you on the first pop-up.
Where do the lessons happen?
On the breaks around General Luna. There's no single beach: your coach chooses by your level and that day's tide and wind, then messages you where to meet.
Can I learn at Cloud 9?
Not as a beginner. Since July 2025 there are no beginner lessons at Cloud 9, and shops there don't rent boards to beginners without an instructor. We teach beginners on softer breaks such as Jacking Horse.
Do you teach kids?
Yes. We teach kids and adults, any age.
When is the best time to learn?
Any month. June to August has the smallest, softest waves, which makes a first session especially easy. Late September to November brings the best waves of the year, and your coach takes beginners to the softer spots. From December to March the northeast wind blows, and we surf the sheltered breaks and the south side.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, sunscreen, water, and a rash guard if you have one. The board is included.
Can I get photos or video of my lesson?
Yes. A local drone photographer can film your lesson; it isn't a service of the school. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll put you in touch. The photographer sets the price.
How do I book?
WhatsApp or call any of the coaches with the day, time and your level. The button on this site opens a ready-made message to Michael.
