Short answer: in 2026 a surf lesson in Siargao costs somewhere between ₱500 and ₱2,500. Ours is ₱1,200 for two hours, with the board.

The long answer depends on three things. How long the lesson is, how many people share one coach, and whether you need a boat to reach the spot.

Our price

What Price

Boat out, on good-wave days +₱300

That’s the whole list. Prices are in Philippine pesos. There’s more detail on the prices page.

What other lessons cost in Siargao

We went through what schools and local guides publish (sources at the bottom of this page). Rough ranges for 2026:

What Typical price
Lesson with a local instructor ₱500 to ₱800 per hour
Private lesson at an established school ₱1,400 to ₱2,500 for 1 to 2 hours
Board rental ₱200 to ₱250 per hour, ₱500 to ₱900 per day
Boat to an offshore spot ₱150 to ₱250 per person, return

The boat prices come from spot guides that carry no date, so take them as a rough idea and agree on the price before you get in.

Why the prices are so different

Time is the biggest one. A one-hour lesson and a two-hour lesson are both sold as “a lesson”, so compare the price per hour. Ours works out to ₱600 an hour.

Then there’s how much of the coach you get. A cheap beach lesson often means one instructor watching several students from the shallows. With us you have a personal coach in the water for the whole session, pushing you into waves and telling you what went wrong on the last one.

And the spot. The breaks you can walk to, like Jacking Horse, cost nothing to reach. Offshore spots like Daku need a bangka, and someone pays for the fuel. That is what our ₱300 boat add-on covers.

What to ask before you book anywhere

  • Is the board included, and what kind? Beginners learn faster on a big soft-top.
  • How long is the lesson in the water, not counting the walk?
  • Where does it happen? If a listing offers a beginner lesson at Cloud 9, ask again. Since July 2025 beginner lessons are not allowed at Cloud 9.
  • Is the boat extra, and per person or per boat?

How much is a surf lesson in Siargao?

In 2026 most lessons cost between ₱500 and ₱2,500. Lessons with local instructors run about ₱500 to ₱800 per hour, and private lessons at established schools about ₱1,400 to ₱2,500 for one to two hours. At Surfing Sirago a two-hour lesson is ₱1,200 with the board.

Is the surfboard included?

In most lessons, yes, but ask. Renting a board on its own costs about ₱200 to ₱250 an hour or ₱500 to ₱900 a day.

Do I pay extra for the boat?

Only when the lesson goes to a spot you can only reach by boat. Our boat add-on is ₱300, and we only suggest it on days when the waves out there are clearly better.
