Ocean 9 is a walk-in beginner spot in the General Luna area of Siargao. Small lefts and rights make it an option for learning from October to March, provided the conditions suit the lesson.

What the wave offers

The waves can be messy. Ocean 9’s appeal for a lesson is their small size, and Fat Lips rates the spot for beginners. As with the island’s reef breaks, the small-wave description should not be read as a promise of a sandy bottom.

There is no need to plan a trip here around a long, clean ride. The published guide does not recommend Ocean 9 for intermediate or advanced surfers.

Who should consider it

For someone learning the basics, it belongs in the conversation alongside Jacking Horse and Daku. The right choice depends on the day and how much experience you have.

Ocean 9 and Cloud 9 are separate spots. Since July 2025, Cloud 9 has had no beginner lessons. Our guide to that rule explains why the similar names should not guide a booking.

Walking in

Access is through Ocean 9 Resort or via a side road. Fat Lips lists a resort entry fee of approximately ₱100. That is an undated figure, so confirm the current fee and access arrangement locally before entering.

The season has a boundary

October to March is the working window given in the spot guide. The same source also says it does not work from May to October. October therefore sits at an overlapping boundary in the description. Check the actual waves before making it the day’s plan.

The island’s smaller summer surf does not mean every beginner spot works in summer.
