- Winter. Flat June to August
Salvacion is an intermediate right in Siargao, reached from General Luna by a drive of about 25 minutes followed by a five-minute boat ride. It is a winter option, with a flat period from June to August.
The right-hand wave
Salvacion belongs to the island’s reef-break options. Fat Lips rates it intermediate. That rating is the useful starting point for deciding whether to include it in a surfing day.
The winter shelter makes it worth considering when exposed waves are affected by northeast winds. Shelter alone does not make a spot suitable for someone who has never surfed.
Who it’s for
Consider Salvacion once you have surfing experience, with a coach assessing how the wave fits your current level. Beginners can compare Guiwan, which has its own take-off and rock cautions.
For other winter options at a higher level, look at Stimpy’s and Rock Island. Both need boat access. Their waves and level ratings differ from Salvacion.
A drive, then a boat
Allow roughly 25 minutes on the road from General Luna. From the pier, the boat takes about five minutes.
Budget approximately ₱200 to ₱250 per person return as an estimate only. Fat Lips lists ₱200 with a possible rise to ₱250 and a strict three-person minimum. Another undated guide lists ₱250 with a two-person minimum. Agree on the total price and minimum passenger charge before getting in the boat, especially for a small group.
When the trip makes sense
Winter is the season to consider Salvacion. In the late December-to-March period, it is one of the sheltered alternatives when northeast winds affect Cloud 9.
June through August is described as flat here. A summer trip should not be planned on the assumption that every reef has a usable wave.
